A Seaside Welcome

A few years back I purchased some wood planks, hinges and wood letters that would spell out WELCOME.

I wanted to create one of those long stand up Welcome signs that I could lean near my front door.  I had a red door at the time, so I painted the wood black and the letters red.

I put two planks together with hinges because I could not find a plank of wood long enough. I thought, “two shorter ones make it longer, right”?

I positioned the letters and hot glued them on to create WELCOME.

As time went on, I repainted my front door a light blue, so I needed to do something with my Welcome sign creation.

I used what I already had in Waverly chalk paint, using the colors Lagoon Blue and Cashew.  I painted the sign in all Lagoon, including the letters and then went back over the sign with a light brushing of Cashew.  I was going for a worn look, and I have decided I am not very good at doing that. I found a pink painted starfish to add for flare.

It now welcomes me to one of my favorite places to sit and have coffee – my back patio.
