One Hour Lighting Makeover

During a recent stay at my mother’s house, she gave me a lamp she had for some years. She thought I could do something special with it.  The base was wrapped with a lasso, and the shade was punched decorative metal.

I decided that the lampshade needed to be lightened, and then I realized that it was just too large and flimsy.  I found a new burlap lamp shade in my craft stash that fit much better.

I wrapped white jute twine around the existing lasso rope on the base of the lamp to add contrast.  I secured it with hot glue.

Next, I wrapped the top and bottom of the burlap lampshade with the white jute twine and attached starfish for added color. I used my hot glue gun to attach both.

Now it is the perfect coffee bar kitchen lamp, and I am sure I will think of something to use the old metal lamp shade for in the future!
