Upcycling Trays for Parties and Home

How to create quick and useful pops of color with cheap trays

After creating inexpensive home décor with an Amazon box and a cereal box, I decided to do something, with the last two fabric flower cut outs that I had, to complete the ensemble.

I started with a tray from a set of different sized wooden trays that I ordered from Amazon.

I painted the tray a light color using chalk paint.

I applied Mod Podge to the inside of the tray to adhere the fabric flowers.

Next, I applied the mod podge over the flowers. I added two coats, allowing to dry between applications.

I decided to add jute twine around the top edges.

The tray was a perfect compliment to my other “fabric flower” creations! However, I think this could be an inexpensive, quick and easy way to create seasonal table décor for parties, weddings, or just to spruce up your home and patio.

If you’re not already following us or signed up for email notifications, now’s the time to do it. I’ll have a few more cheap decorating ideas for weddings and parties in future posts.
