Turn that ugly old file cabinet into something you don’t have to hide

When my husband decided to retire, he wanted a file cabinet for storing some of his things. I had a metal file cabinet in a closet taking up space and not really being used. I didn’t want to put it in my home office since it didn’t match anything.

I decided to paint it. I used chalk paint and some left over paint I had from painting the walls in my guest bedroom.

I used two coats of paint in both colors. Once completely dry, I used a clear sealer since I decided I would use it as a night stand.

When painting metal, you want to be patient and let it dry thoroughly between coats. Once it was completely dry, I added small wooden anchors with a glue gun and painted them.
What a difference this made! And I can still use it as a file cabinet or storage container if I want to!
