About
I can thank a pandemic for pushing my creative boundaries. Not only was I home more (I travel most of the time with my job), but my husband was laid off like many people. I wouldn’t call myself cheap, but if something needed to be thrown away, I decided to find a way to give it a second life.
When I cleaned out a closet or my sewing and craft room, I stared at the things I would normally throw away and thought about what I could do with them or what I could turn them into. If I didn’t turn an old pillow into a new one, I would at least reuse the stuffing. Instead of tossing cheap plastic plate chargers, I repainted them to create a new table setting.
I used fabric to “paint” images on canvas. I recovered old cushions to update my couch. I painted old furniture and cabinets, and I used peel and stick wallpaper to step up my designs. It saved me so much money. No need to buy something new when I could just renew what I had. A $20,000 kitchen remodel only cost $500 when I put my imagination and resourcefulness to work.
This is the Gulf Coast, so all those wine bottles were spared the recycle bin, and I transformed them into table top tiki torches to repel mosquitos. I’ve lived on the coast most of my adult life, so I love the sea, the beach and all things nautical. Most of my creations honor the seaside. So this is my space for Seaside Resurrections!
