Save a Tree by Beautifying the Box

Create a tree “skirt” or planter cover with those Amazon Boxes

I wanted to do something different around the bottom of my Christmas tree this year, so I decided I wanted to try a Christmas tree “trunk” cover.  I decided a box would be easier to manage than getting on the floor and wrangling a tree skirt.

Christmas tree trunk covers come in a variety of materials.  Metal, wicker and plastic.  They are also expensive.

I decided to make one using an Amazon box.

I cut the top of the box off and opened one side corner to lay it flat. I had some burlap from my fabric stash, so I stapled it to the box sides.

I topped the burlap with a fishing net that I also had in my craft stash, using a hot glue gun and staples.

I finished by gluing rope around the top edges of the box and gluing burlap ribbon around the bottom. I then attached a burlap ribbon bow and an old piece of scarf jewelry.

The decorated cardboard was positioned around the bottom of the tree using clothes pins to keep the ends together.

Save your new tree box and use it next Christmas, or simply decorate it in a way that gives it multiple uses. Use it as a pot cover for house plants. Store magazine or kids’ games. Whatever you can think of, use it!

This is such a simple and impactful way to reduce waste by reusing something as common as a box from Amazon.
