Wooden Serving Tray Upgrade

I recently bought unfinished wooden trays – Packages of 5 different sizes – at Amazon for under $20.  I wanted to make a special gift for a bridal shower using some leftover fabric I had.

I took the time to cut out flowers from the fabric pattern so that I could decoupage them to the wooden tray.

First, I painted the tray.

Then I placed the fabric flowers on the tray using Mod Podge glue. I made sure I painted the Mod Podge on all sides; over the flowers and the bottom of the tray.  I applied two coats, letting the Mod Podge dry between coats.

I decided to take some ribbon I had in my ribbon stash and place it around the upper edge of the tray using Mod Podge.

This was a fun project and a great way to use my fabric and ribbon stash.  It also makes a great gift for any occasion.
